the design of olé is inspired by connections - the connection between old and new, between modern and classic, and on the connection between the highly contrasting neighbourhoods of genteel, quaint neve tzedek and the adjacent raw,
bohemian florentin.

At the heart of the design is the historic templar building which houses the restaurant - a strong poetic building, its silent stories stream to and from another world, inspiring my design.
the way i see it, buildings and their architecture are living, breathing creatures, imparting their histories, providing inspiration to designers tasked with their renovation and redesign for a new era. as winston churchill once said: “we shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us.”
the tiles, imported from italy, laser cut with the finest precision, are made of light veined marble, inlaid with arches cut from fine italian terazzo.
the principal lighting was imported from a dutch glass artist and is made of traditional hand blown glass which is then allowed to cool very slowly in an oven. creating these giant glass bubbles (one meter in length) requires great artistry.
additional lighting was ordered from an american designer.
